USPS Stamps Out Hunger

Community Food Connection Receives 13,400 lbs of Food from USPS Stamp Out Hunger Program

We are thrilled to announce that the Community Food Connection recently received a generous donation of 13,400 pounds of non-perishable food from the United States Postal Service (USPS). This incredible contribution was part of their annual Stamp Out Hunger program, a nationwide food drive that takes place every May. We are deeply grateful to USPS and the residents of Poway and the surrounding areas who participated in this vital effort.

The Stamp Out Hunger program, initiated by the National Association of Letter Carriers in 1993, is the largest single-day food drive in the country. Each year, on the second Saturday in May, postal workers across America collect non-perishable food donations left by mailboxes. These donations are then distributed to local food banks and pantries, providing much-needed support to families facing food insecurity.

This year, the Poway community showed tremendous generosity, contributing thousands of pounds of food to help their neighbors in need. Our dedicated volunteers at Community Food Connection boxed and organized the donated food items, which included canned goods, pasta, rice, and other non-perishable staples. These boxes were then distributed to families in need throughout our community, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the USPS for their continued commitment to fighting hunger through the Stamp Out Hunger program. Your efforts make a significant impact on the lives of many families, and we are honored to be a part of this important initiative.

We also encourage our readers to consider organizing a food drive with your company or organization. Food drives are a fantastic way to bring people together and make a tangible difference in the community. By collecting non-perishable food items, you can help us continue to provide essential support to those who need it most.

If you are interested in organizing a food drive or learning more about how you can support the Community Food Connection, please reach out to us. Together, we can work towards a hunger-free community.
